SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) -Effective Thursday, there’s a new man on the job in the legislative inspector general’s office.
David Risley (pictured) has the job on an acting basis. And, in a ten-minute video message posted on the office’s web site, he didn’t mention his predecessor’s name, but he did spend a lot of time talking about priorities which at the end were not attributed to Mike McCuskey.
Risley said his priorities, in order, are investigating sexual harassment complaints; professionalism; and growing the staff of inspectors.
McCuskey resigned as sexual harassment accusations swirled around a now former state lawmaker, Harry Benton, and threaten to touch House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch (D-Hillside) as well. McCuskey was accused of sloppy, inaccurate work – and feeling too free to talk about his work – including on radio shows.
The search continues for a permanent successor to McCuskey.
