Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man stands accused of setting part of the Sangamon Towers apartment building downtown on fire Wednesday.

Jail records indicate Joseph Johnson, 62, faces two counts of Aggravated Arson and single counts of Residential Arson and Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property.

Our news partners at WAND-TV report the fire was set on the 10th floor, but Springfield Fire says Johnson didn’t live in the building.

A fire department K-9 was used in helping determine the cause of blaze.

Two people suffered burn injuries.

Online court records for the case were not available Thursday afternoon.
